Justin Sibley approaches his representation of you in court as he did when a Barrister. Justin started his career as a police officer in 1997, working in criminal investigative squads including in Major Crime and in the Child and Sexual Assault Unit, before being admitted as a Barrister in 2001. He then joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Following overseas postings to SEA and the ME as a Counter Terrorism officer, Justin resumed his work as a Barrister in 2015, before establishing a his legal practice in 2017. Justin Sibley uses his unique insights from his experience as both a Barrister and a Police Officer to take a strategic yet practical approach to criminal law, elements that are critical for our clients. Justin is committed to the very highest level of defence and works tirelessly to ensure the Police and Prosecutors act fairly and honestly.

Robert Sibley has extensive experience as a practicing Barrister and brings to bear a high level of expertise and experience in Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Evidence Law. He has over 40 years of experience in the Criminal Justice System at all levels having working for the Public Defenders Office, the DPP, the Special Prosecutor’s Office and as a Barrister in private practice. Robert Sibley was a Senior Lecturer in Law at the QUT Law School in Brisbane and at the Law School of the University of the South Pacific at Port Vila, Vanuatu and at Suva, Fiji. He is a Visiting Fellow at the QUT Law School in Brisbane. He has developed and presented training courses for Queensland Police Prosecutors. He has appeared as a Barrister in a number of specialist roles. Robert Sibley is now a Solicitor consulting as General Counsel, and assists in ensuring our clients receive the best representation possible.

Justin and his team fight for what’s right! Here is my story.

I was a Corrective Services Officer for over 5 years. Before that, I served my country in the Australian Regular Army for 25 years, with several operational deployments. I had an unblemished work history within both the Military and Corrections.
During my time within Corrections, I was regularly rostered in high stress response posts, such as the Detention Unit, because I had good communication skills and an impeccable work ethic and I could handle the associated pressure of a response post. This lead me to believe that I was a valued member of the team and that I had proven my skill, through the requirement to handle extremely difficult and volatile situations, including the use force, as required due to these allocated work positions.
In early 2018 I was required to use force to restrain an aggressive prisoner who had assaulted me. Much to my dismay, Management simply turned against me. A complaint was solicited from the prisoner involved, CCTV footage that could help prove I was innocent was deleted, and only the parts that helped the prosecutor were kept. I was collateral damage for someone else’s career advancement. As a result I was marched out of my Centre like I was a criminal. I was given full pay for a period of time but to receive this I was not allowed to contact any of my work colleagues, set foot in a correctional establishment and was not able to be away from my home for more than 3 days without approval. Then after months of no contact, or support, l was interviewed by police and prosecuted. I was dismayed at the way this was carried out. Luckily for me I found Sibley Lawyers, who fought for me tirelessly, right until I was acquitted. The Judge who ordered my acquittal said I should never have been prosecuted, and yet I was. It was unfair and the Prosecutors seemed intent on getting me convicted, no matter what. To make it worse, Corrections forced me out, terminating my employment on the basis my use of force was not justified or authorised – even though a Court had not yet decided. Sibley Lawyers is now fighting against that wrong as well.
This process has taken 27 months from the time I was wrongfully walked out of my correctional centre until acquittal. One of the only things that kept me going in the fight to clear my name was the support of Justin Sibley who worked tirelessly to right this wrong. I would not hesitate to recommend Justin and his team should you find yourself in a position such as mine. They fight for what’s right!

I would highly recommend Justin Sibley . After my husband was pulled over by police, he suffered a heart attack, subsequently became confused and drove off and was facing numerous charges.
Justin negotiated with the police prosecutor and several charges were dropped because of insufficient evidence.
We were happy with the outcome , Justin argued our case very strongly and persistently on the day of sentencing.
Not having used a solicitor before, we were very worried about costs but found Justin very reasonable .
Having Justin on our case certainly reduced my stress levels.

Best Lawyers in Brisbane. I went to over 6 top law firms in Brisbane and Sibley Lawyers turned out to be the best legal representation by far. My matter was serious, and at times the Ipswich DPP and Police made it complex but Justin from Sibley Lawyers knew what to do straight away, whereas other “Top Lawyers” in Brisbane were scratching their heads and had no idea what to do.
